Vega Homers Twice in 4-1 Marlins Win
A 4-RBI performance from the 24-year old left fielder Mario Vega helped the Miami Marlins beat the New York Mets, 4-1. A.J. Kieninger was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he yielded 1 run on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Bobby Brownlee recorded the save, his 31st.

Vega contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Miami in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Vega took a fastball from Randy Zimmerman and stroked the home run to right-center. His 22nd home run of the season allowed the Marlins to leap in front, 2-1.

"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said Vega.

The second-place Marlins lifted their record to 68-54.
