Wood Leads Charge, Chicago Blasts Stars
|
The Chicago White Sox had no problem beating the Nashville Stars, 14-3, at First Horizon Ballpark. Ben Wood, who is tied for 10th in the AL in stolen bases with 25, led the onslaught. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for Chicago. Brad Walter, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3 innings. At 40-63, the White Sox are currently last in the American League Central Division.
The White Sox got a big hit from second baseman Steve Turner. Facing Nashville pitcher Pat Page in the top of the fifth, Turner pounded a run-scoring double to left-center. His 9th double of the season put the White Sox ahead, 2-0.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Wood.
