Diamondbacks Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Chicago Cubs, 3-2, in 13 innings. Arizona pitcher and Webster, Massachusetts, native Ben Vitiello led the way. The winner in relief was Chris Cotter. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 6-3. The triumph puts Arizona at 50-48 for the season.
Robby Jeffries had a direct impact on the outcome. Jeffries contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 13th inning to put Arizona up, 3-2.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Arizona skipper George Dbacks. "I can't complain."
