Tigers Come Up Short at Cincinnati, 3-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Cincinnati Reds got the win.
The Cincinnati Reds eked out a 3-2 win versus the Detroit Tigers at Great American Ball Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Chris Lankford. He was terrific. Ben Grimaldo, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-3. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings.
Chris Martineau hit a solo home run off Josh McCormick in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Reds ahead, 3-2. In addition to the homer, Martineau had 1 double, while going 2 for 3.
"Chris is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Cincinnati manager Andrew K.
The Reds, now 55-35, have won 4 in a row.
