The San Francisco Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds, 8-3. San Francisco pitcher and San Diego, California, native Steve Navarro led the way. The winning pitcher was Navarro, now 6-9. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 9. The win has San Francisco at 27-50.
In the top of the second, Mike Rivera delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the San Francisco first baseman hit a 2-run single, putting the Giants in front, 8-3.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Rivera.
