Win Makes Cardinals 37-31
|
The Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Cardinals grabbed a win, 3-2, at American Family Field, overcoming a fine effort from Milwaukee pitcher Nate Nickels. Nickels went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Josh Adelman came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 2-4.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of Ron Rivers to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cardinals on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Milwaukee manager Kevin Smith. "We just didn't cash in."
The Brewers, now 28-40, have lost 4 in a row.
