Texas wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Billy Gildea, falling to the Boston Red Sox, 3-1. Gildea threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Picking up his 13th save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Dave McTighe. Boston is 33-24 and Texas, with the loss, 20-38.

Boston used a clutch hit from Josh Arroyo to get the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Boston skipper Ray Mac.
