Extra-Inning Win by Guardians Over White Sox
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Progressive Field.
The Cleveland Guardians converted a terrific effort from starter Jon Ringelstetter into a win over the Chicago White Sox at Progressive Field. The Guardians won the game by a final score of 2-0. Cleveland reliever Bobby Chapman picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Tommy Downard was saddled with the loss.
Cleveland got a game-changing hit from Dreylin Pepe. The first baseman blasted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a winner.
"When Jon's on, he's on," said Cleveland manager Brian L.
The Guardians saw their record improve to 33-24.
