Stars Hand New York 6-2 Loss
|
At First Horizon Ballpark, the New York Yankees and Nashville Stars were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Nashville pitcher Luis Mata did his part in helping his team defeat the New York Yankees, 6-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Mata, now 4-2, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs.
The Stars got a big at-bat from catcher Chris Preator. For the game, Preator went 1-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Nashville a 3-2 lead.
"Luis has got a slow heartbeat," said Nashville manager Brandon R. "He doesn't panic or anything."
Nashville is now 32-27, while New York is 36-21.
