Reds Beat Cardinals, 3-1
|
The Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
In a low-scoring game between the Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals, pitcher Chris Lankford was masterful on the mound. The Cincinnati left-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. Cincinnati, at 34-21, is 7½ games up in the National League Central Division.
Jose Naranjo had a big solo home run for the Reds in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from Dylan Pagan, the 25th overall pick in the 2038 draft, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Reds on top, 2-0.
Cincinnati manager Andrew K called it "a darn good win."
