Phillies Prevail, 3-1, Over Washington
|
Philadelphia used a superb performance from starting pitcher Rodolfo Castanon to down the Washington Nationals, 3-1. Art Kinnunen nailed down the save. With the win, the Phillies sit at 26-20.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Phillies had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when second baseman Dwayne Jones hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jim Boeckman and made the score 3-1, Phillies. Jones went 1 for 4.
"Tough loss," said Washington manager Joe D. "But we'll rebound from it."
