Astros Bridle Blue Jays, 3-2
|
The Houston Astros knocked off the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-2, in American League action at Minute Maid Park. Houston pitcher and Dishman, Washington, native Joel Warner had an outstanding performance. The Blue Jays fall to 14-18 and continue their lackluster start to the 2044 season.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Jim Sawyer came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Toronto pitcher Pat Capistran, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Houston on top, 3-2.
Sawyer called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
