Kooperman No-Hits Bursa HS Tuesday, April 12th , 2050 Fans at Tomsk HS Fields got a rare gift today as Barnabas Kooperman of the Tides tossed a no-hitter against the Bursa HS Riptide. Although Kooperman did not appear to have his best stuff in the early innings, he turned masterful as the game went on, ultimately striking out 12 and walking 2 in a 1-0 Tomsk HS victory. "We had our chances in the first few innings when he was hittable, and we couldn't capitalize on them," Bursa HS manager Mick Bedford said later. "In the last four or five innings, he totally shut us down." In all, Kooperman faced only 30 batters. While getting into his groove, he was helped by several defensive gems. "I don't remember a better-pitched game," Tides manager Nelson Aris said. "And how about our defense today?" This year, Kooperman has made 8 starts, thrown 44.2 innings, fanned 49 batters and walked 15. His won-lost record is 4-2 with a 2.22 ERA. |
