Istanbul Out of Time, Out of Playoffs Monday, September 9th , 2052 Even the most die-hard fans of the Istanbul Janissaries will likely now start focusing on next year. The team was today mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. "We're disappointed," said Janissaries reliever Fedya Shipko. "Not just for ourselves, but also for the fans that stick with us every year." The Janissaries have missed the playoffs 21 times in their 32 years as a European League Baseball franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 2nd in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2050. In the last 10 seasons, the Janissaries have missed the playoffs 8 times. Istanbul last won the Cup Series in 2039. |
