On Road, Stockholm Beats Istanbul, 9-1
|
Stockholm Valkyries starter Alvaro Campos was dealing, as his team thumped the Istanbul Janissaries, 9-1. Campos, the winner, moves to 3-6. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Stockholm now sits at 42-39, while Istanbul falls to 34-47.
Stockholm used a well-timed hit by Bernard Bolton to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Valkyries ahead, 6-0. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it was important.
"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Istanbul manager Ken Smith.
