Madrid turned a good performance from starting pitcher Alin Rotaru into a 4-2 triumph over the Rome Wolves at Palacio de Cristal. Rotaru yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-5. Vinny Moreno earned the save for Madrid, his 9th of the year.

Madrid took a 4-1 lead on Sepi Hoffman's 5th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Hoffman hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Rome pitcher DeMario Reyes visibly frustrated.

"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Rotaru. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."

The triumph makes Madrid 25-49.
