McGuire Lauded as Reapers Defeat Wolves, 7-5
|
Kyiv first baseman Taylor McGuire contributed significantly to his team's 7-5 win over the Rome Wolves. McGuire, who finished 2nd in the EB in doubles with 44 last year, went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Reapers. Han Shui was the winner. He's now 8-2. The loser was 2048 Pitcher of the Year Award winner Sashenka Znamensky. Thadzieusz Wieczorek earned the save, his 9th, for the Reapers.
The Reapers got a big at-bat from center fielder Gavin Beattie. For the game, Beattie was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Kyiv a 2-1 lead.
"Put the ball in play and good things will happen," said McGuire.
The Wolves, at 39-23, have lost 4 in a row.
