Ridin' High: Whittaker Hits for Cycle
Albert Whittaker did everything he could for the Edinburgh Highlanders -- literally.

The 30-year-old second baseman hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Highlanders, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Cork Poppers, 11-1, at Highland Hearth.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Whittaker reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Whittaker banged out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and totaled 5 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Albert Whittaker hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Danny Rodriguez in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.

This year, Whittaker has hit at a .262 clip with 79 RBIs, 29 home runs and 81 runs scored.
