In 18, Rome Sinks Edinburgh, 5-4
|
The Rome Wolves beat the Edinburgh Highlanders, 5-4, at Highland Hearth. Rome first baseman Piaras Davies had an outstanding performance. He was 5-9 with a double and 4 singles. Dominik Oelsner picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Jusuf Noli, who finished 2nd in the WB in saves with 37 in 2044, was tagged with the loss. The Wolves have an impressive 85-44 record.
It could have been a different outcome for Rome, had it not been for Carlos Pinal, the 26-year old second baseman . Pinal contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 18th inning to put Rome up, 5-4.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Edinburgh manager Zappcz Smith.
