Monaco Pins 3-1 Loss on Waves
|
Monaco pitcher Kevin Vigneron did his part in helping his team defeat the Warsaw Waves, 3-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Vigneron, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. The Mashers, now 4-1, have been playing some good baseball.
Monaco used the timely hitting of John Mendez to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mashers on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Monaco skipper Grab Stir.
