The Bucharest Crew downed the Rome Wolves, 5-1, at Colosseum. Stellar pitching by Antti Siurunen had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is a eight-time All-Star, handcuffed his opponent all game. Siurunen, now 8-5, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. With the victory, the Crew record stands at 64-54.
It could have been a different outcome for Bucharest, had it not been for Oliver Wertheim, the 24-year old third baseman . Wertheim contributed a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put Bucharest up, 2-0.
