Conquerers Throttled by Valkyries, 5-1
|
Stockholm pitcher Serguei Gveseliani did his part in helping his team defeat the Madrid Conquerers, 5-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The Valkyries move to 61-56 with the win, while the Conquerers drop to 57-60.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Günter Ercan didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Madrid trailing 3-1, Ercan retired Ricardo Pizzonia to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Ercan, with a wink.
