Sakov Smacks 3 Homers in 5-3 Crew Win
|
Bucharest second baseman Fiers Sakov played a vital role in his team's 5-3 conquest of Krakow. He slugged 3 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored three times for Bucharest. Nyyrikki Metsa, the winner, improved to 3-3. He held Krakow to 3 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Alex Raymundo earned the save, his 6th.
It could have been a different outcome for Bucharest, had it not been for Nicolas Roussel, the former first round draft pick . Roussel contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Bucharest up, 4-3.
Sakov told a Bucharest Daily News reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
The defending champion Crew have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 16-15 with the win.
