The Edinburgh Highlanders beat the Cork Poppers, 7-4, at Rebel City Field. Kostandin Pipa went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. The 25-year old first baseman was a menace to Cork all day. Edinburgh reliever Hewitt Lind picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Carlos Pasillas took the loss. It was the 7th win in 11 games this year for the defending champion Highlanders, who are picking up where they left off.

Edinburgh used the timely hitting of Volkmar Krieger to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Highlanders on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Krieger told the Edinburgh Today: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
