Hopkins's Hit Streak Soars to 20 Games

Bud Hopkins, first baseman for the Savannah Bannanas, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 1 hit in his club's 7-3 victory today over the Tucson Sidewinders at Roger Dean Stadium today.
"I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends." Bud Hopkins struck out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
This season Hopkins has hit 15 home runs and posted a .336 batting average.
