5 Straight Wins for Gophers
|
The Galveston Gophers picked up a win at Diamondhead Field, knocking off the Diamondhead Dodgers, 4-2. Starting pitcher Adam Laney played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Laney. He threw 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Pete Anderson. The win puts Galveston at 18-14.
Galveston used the timely hitting of Dave Hawks to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Gophers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're playing like we're capable of," said Galveston manager .
