Potter Selected DSL's Best Player

He may have less experience than most of his Dominican Rookie League peers, but that didn't slow Josh Potter down at all in 2043.

At the age of 23, the Boston (DSL) center fielder has been named the winner of the Dominican Rookie League Most Valuable Player Award.

He had a .392 batting average and a .431 on-base percentage this year. In 65 games he piled up 103 hits, 32 doubles, 8 triples, 12 home runs, 70 RBIs and 55 runs scored.

"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

He received 35 first place votes out of a possible 42. Chris Devlin of the Kansas City (DSL) Royals 2 finished second in voting, while Mike Estes of the Philadelphia (DSL) Phillies Red finished third with 7 first place votes.

The Dominican Rookie League made the official announcement today. The 2043 Dominican Rookie League Outstanding Pitcher Award has gone to Mike Estes of Philadelphia (DSL).

He had a superlative season, chalking up a 12-2 won-lost mark with an impressive 0.98 ERA.

Estes logged 15 starts, threw 128.1 innings, yielded 111 hits, struck out 134 and held the opposition to a .231 batting average.

He received 42 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Chris Sibilia of the Philadelphia (DSL) Phillies White finished second in voting, while Eric McDonald of the Pittsburgh (DSL) Pirates 2 finished third.
