Brandenburg 5-for-5 for State College Tuesday, September 10th , 2041 Even as a kid, Johnny Brandenburg said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, Brandenburg showed how well he learned that lesson. The 19-year-old first baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the State College Spikes, helping his team knock off the Auburn Doubledays by a score of 10-0. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Johnny Brandenburg singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Billy Backes in the 7th. Thus far in 2041, Brandenburg is hitting .314 with 2 home runs, 17 RBIs, 23 runs scored and has compiled a .359 OBP. |
