Pomeroy on a Rampage, Hits for Cycle Wednesday, July 9th , 2042 Phil Pomeroy punished the Iowa Cubs, leading the Storm Chasers to a win, 10-4. In doing so, Pomeroy hit for the cycle, tagging the Cubs for 4 hits in 5 at-bats. A player hitting a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game is one of the more unusual feats in professional baseball and typically happens only a couple times per season. "Well, I didn't expect that to happen," the Omaha right fielder said after the game. "I got some great pitches and I hit their mistakes." Pomeroy also had 4 runs batted in and 1 run scored in the game at Principal Park. Phil Pomeroy hit an RBI triple in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jake Kizer in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and flied out in the 7th. For the year, Pomeroy has hit .435 with 1 home run, 10 RBIs and scored 9 runs. |
