The manager of the Hickory Crawdads said he thinks Abel Jacobelli is only going to get better as he gets older.

He may only be 23, but it will be hard to top the first baseman's 2032 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the High-A East Most Valuable Player Award.

His winning campaign featured a .380 batting average and a .454 on-base percentage this year. In 138 games he piled up 196 hits, 31 doubles, no triples, 34 home runs, 109 RBIs and 96 runs scored.

He received 11 first place votes out of a possible 12. Ron Salmans of the Greensboro Grasshoppers finished second in voting, while Pete Petersen of the Greenville Drive finished third.
