Pena King of Fling with No-Hitter Wednesday, July 20th , 2039 Eddie Pena really did a number on the New York A W (GCL) Yankees West at George M. Steinbrenner Field -- and that number was zero. The Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Rays to victory, 6-0. "This is something special," Pena said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look." The right-hander faced only 29 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 13 and walked 2. "We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," New York A W (GCL) manager Brent Del Chiaro said when asked about the epic performance. "Pena was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number." So far this year, Pena has made 5 starts, tossed 29 innings, struck out 35 batters and walked 12. His record is 2-2 with a 2.48 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .131 batting average.
