Today the Gulf Coast Rookie League announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is Detroit E (GCL) third baseman Chris Borja. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually bad news for pitchers.
For the week he batted .548 (17-for-31) with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs.
This year, Borja has 7 home runs and a .414 batting average.

Negron Hit Streak Soars to 32 Games

Alex Negron's hitting streak is becoming the talk of Tampa Bay (GCL). The 19-year-old third baseman extended it once again, this time bringing it to 32 games with a 1-for-2 performance against the Washington (GCL) Nationals. The Rays won the game, 20-19.
"People are starting to bring it up to me when I'm around town," he said. "It's getting stressful." Alex Negron walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd and grounded out in the 5th.
So far this season, Negron has gotten 72 hits in 160 at-bats for a .450 batting average with 5 home runs. His stats include 48 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has played in 42 games.
