#1 Pitcher Picked for 2038 Friday, September 24th , 2038 The Outstanding Pitcher Award for 2038 has been presented and the Gulf Coast Rookie League winner is Humberto Prieto of Philadelphia W (GCL). "It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Prieto. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Phillies West star told reporters. Prieto excelled with an impressive 6-0 record in 11 starts. In 68.2 innings he yielded 34 hits and 16 walks, while striking out 102 and compiling a fine 1.05 ERA. He received 20 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Josh Wells of the Philadelphia W (GCL) Phillies West finished second in voting, while Oscar Ramos of the Philadelphia E (GCL) Phillies East finished third.
