Elder Swings White Sox to 7-4 Win
|
The Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago White Sox riveted fans at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The Chicago White Sox stopped the Tampa Bay Rays, 7-4, at Guaranteed Rate Field. The White Sox got a big game from Jim Elder, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. Mike Heffinger, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Rays to 1 run on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 4.
With Chicago leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Elder hit a fastball from Dylan Ray for a bases-clearing double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the White Sox ahead, 4-0.
"We played hard and won," said Elder. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The White Sox raised their record to 13-13.
