Spirited fans greeted the Columbia Fireflies for their clash with the Charleston RiverDogs.

Mike Bongiovanni helped his team muscle past the Columbia Fireflies, 8-5. In the game, the Charleston first baseman was 2-3 with 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times. The win belonged to Rodolfo Castillo in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Jaheim Shabazz took the loss for Columbia.

Charleston used the timely hitting of F. Cunningham to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the RiverDogs on top, 8-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.

"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Bongiovanni said (again).
