The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place Stockton Ports.

In a high-scoring game between Stockton and Fresno, second baseman Chase Royes was a difference-maker. The 20-year-old helped Stockton grab the 12-9 win. He was 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Chris Kelly earned the save for Stockton, his 18th of the year.

With Stockton leading 5-3 in the bottom of the second, Royes hit a fastball from Alejandro Fermin for a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Ports ahead, 9-3.

Royes told the Stockton Citizen: "I'm the straw that stirs the drink."

Stockton's record now stands at 54-13, placing them first in the Northern Division.
