The Peoria Chiefs knocked off the Lansing Lugnuts, 8-5, in Midwest League action at Dozer Park. Peoria shortstop and Bayamón, Puerto Rico, native David Vallejo had an outstanding performance. The winner in relief was Juan Barreras. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 4 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. Peoria currently is in 5th place in the West at 25-31.

With Peoria leading 3-1 in the bottom of the first, Vallejo hit a slider from Peter Bo Bondurant for a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 6-1.
