The Clearwater Threshers picked up a win at TD Ballpark, downing the Dunedin Blue Jays, 3-1. On the mound for Clearwater was right-hander Chris Shaver, who played a pivotal role in the win. Shaver yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-3. Eric Cisneros earned the save, his 10th, for the Threshers.
Clearwater used a well-timed hit by Juan Parra to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Threshers ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"This is a very good team," said Parra. "We have the chance to do something special."
The victory gives the Threshers a record of 46-28.
