Wichita Earns 7-6 Win
|
Wichita beat Tulsa at ONEOK Field, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Julio Chapa. He was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Paul Wilson claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record stands at 2-1. The save went to Joe Logan, number 20 for him.
Wichita used a clutch at-bat from Bryce Steedman to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Wind Surge ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Chapa. "It sure beats the alternative."
The Wind Surge, at 35-23, lead by one game in their division.
