The Springfield Cardinals topped the Wichita Wind Surge, 7-4, in Texas League action at Riverfront Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Springfield pitcher Lawson Shiplack. The winning pitcher was Shiplack, now 5-3. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Springfield is in third place in the North Division with a record of 25-29.

With one out in the top of the eighth, Billy Rorrer had a game-changing hit. The Cardinals shortstop slammed a run-scoring single off Geiser Figueroa, making the score 3-1, Springfield.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Rorrer.
