In a low-scoring contest between the Dunedin Blue Jays and the Clearwater Threshers, 22-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Mendoza proved to be the difference. The Dunedin right-hander earned props for his performance in the 1-0 Blue Jays win. Gilberto Arce notched his 13th save of the season. The win boosts the Blue Jays to 28-25. The loss puts the Threshers at 23-30.

Mendoza, who was born in Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, delivered a quality start for Dunedin. The 6-foot-3 right-hander allowed no earned runs on 1 hit over 7 innings of work.

"Juan made the big pitches when he needed to," said Dunedin manager Dallas McPherson.
