Lookouts Reel Off Another Win
|
Chattanooga starter Nelson Padilla put a stranglehold on the Birmingham offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Lookouts to a 6-1 win. Padilla, now 3-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 11 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Early on, the Lookouts, at 16-2, have put the pedal to the metal.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Phil Christman? The Chattanooga right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Lookouts on top, 2-0. For the game, Christman had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Nelson went out and got the job done," said Lookouts manager Jerry Owens.
