The El Paso Chihuahuas knocked off the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 6-3, in Pacific Coast League action at Southwest University park. El Paso pitcher and Elk Plain, Washington, native Al Day had an outstanding performance. Day yielded 3 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-2. The last-place Chihuahuas now have a win-loss record of 49-55.
In the bottom of the fourth, El Paso first baseman Phil Kilburg had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Kilburg stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 5-2, El Paso. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"We want to make a habit of winning," Kilburg said after the game.
