Washington Gets 7-2 Win Against Twins
|
The Washington Nationals polished off the Minnesota Twins by the score of 7-2. The largest share of the credit belonged to right fielder Luis Echavarria. Echavarria went 4 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 for the Nationals. Jim Hatley, the winner, is now 6-9. He struck out 5 and walked 2 over 6 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. With the win, Washington has a record of 50-52. Minnesota falls to 34-67.
Caleb Bonemer helped out the Washington cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the designated hitter was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.
Bonemer said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
