Angels Lose to Rays, 4-1
|
Brandon Barriera, who finished 3rd in the AL in wins with 15 in 2027, pitched well, but the Los Angeles Angels still fell short, losing, 4-1, to the Tampa Bay Rays at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Tampa Bay reliever Jonathan Gandy was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Brandon Barriera took the loss. Tampa Bay, now 51-51, holds down third place in the American League East Division.
J.D. Thomson, who is tied for 5th in the AL in triples with 4, had a direct impact on the outcome. Thomson contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Tampa Bay up, 2-1.
Thomson called the win "good for the psyche of this team."
