Fightin Phils Come Back Late to Top Yard Goats, 6-3
|
The Reading Fightin Phils earned a win at Dunkin' Donuts Park, knocking off the Hartford Yard Goats, 6-3. On the bump for Reading was right-hander Chris Leaver. He had a starring role in the triumph. The winner was Leaver. He threw 7.1 innings allowing 3 runs. The loser was Chris Kemp. Dusty Vences, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
Alejandro Rivera provided a timely hit. The Reading second baseman delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fightin Phils on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
Rivera attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
Reading has now won 3 straight, while the Yard Goats have lost 3 in a row.
