Salazar Supplies Juice in Detroit Win
|
Detroit second baseman Luis Salazar was instrumental in helping the Tigers triumph, 8-1, over the Minnesota Twins. Salazar was 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 4 times. Tim Walters, who is tied for 4th in the AL in quality starts with 11, was the winner. He's now 8-4. The loser was Eric Holland. Detroit, now 30-53, holds down 4th place in the American League Central Division.
In the bottom of the first, Erik Sarff delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Detroit shortstop hit a 2-run single, putting the Tigers in front, 8-1.
"They just got us," said Minnesota manager Kristopher Negron, "and that's all I can say."
