Orioles Score Late, Clip Royals, 4-3
|
The Baltimore Orioles faced a tough opponent in Kansas City pitcher JR Ritchie, but found a way to pull out the victory at Kauffman Stadium by a final score of 4-3 in 16 innings. Ritchie went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Daysbel Hernandez snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The setback makes the Royals 10-20.
Konnor Griffin came through with a big-time hit for Baltimore. The left fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the 16th inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I like our resilience," said Griffin.
