Bennett on Fire, 5-for-7 Against Las Vegas Monday, June 21st , 2010 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-7 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for J.P. Bennett, it came around today. The 23-year-old center fielder scattered hits all over Rollers Grove to pace the Winnipeg Wraiths to a 14-12 victory over the Las Vegas Rollers. Las Vegas skipper Stephen Boudreau told reporters in the press room that "Bennett deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Bennett hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." J.P. Bennett grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, hit a two-run single in the 10th, singled in the 11th and struck out in the 13th. This season Bennett is batting .229 with 1 home run. He has scored 8 runs and driven in 16. |
