Outlaws Shut Out Spiders, 3-0
|
The North Korea Outlaws got a magnificent effort from pitcher Justin Cooney, who kept Cleveland hitters in check en route to a 3-0 Outlaws win at The Web. Cooney picked up the win for North Korea, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 8-7. Butch Daughtridge earned the save, his 20th, for the Outlaws.
North Korea used the timely hitting of Pedro Guerrero to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Outlaws on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Cooney. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
North Korea is in first place in the Northern League Midnight Express with a record of 57-50.
